Print On Demand

No pre-printing, no inventory, no waste

Complete Solution

Feeding, printing, folding, insertion — all in one

How the InstaPrint System Works

The InstaPrint is a fully integrated packing slip automation system built from Pineberry’s proven friction feeder technology.

N1

Feed

Blank packing slips are loaded into the SF-12 Friction Feeder magazine. The feeder automatically picks and singulates flat stock at production speed.
N2

Print

Slips travel down the vacuum conveyor to the Inkjet Printing System. Customer info, order details, barcodes, and logos are printed instantly — no pre-printed forms needed.

N3

Fold

After printing, slips are automatically folded to fit small boxes and cartons. Adjustable fold settings for different package sizes.
N4

Insert

Folded slips are released and dropped directly into boxes or packaging on the production line. Barcode verification ensures accuracy.

Full system speed: Up to 30 slips per minute end-to-end.

What the InstaPrint Can Handle

The InstaPrint uses a high-quality Inkjet Printing System to print on flat materials including:

  • Paper — standard packing slip stock, bond paper, recycled paper
  • Plastic — polyethylene, polypropylene, Tyvek
  • Stock with integrated labels — pre-perforated forms, adhesive-backed stock

Print resolution: 600 DPI
Ink type: Solvent-based or aqueous (depends on material and speed requirements)
Print width: Up to 12″ wide (custom widths available)

Industries and Applications

ecommerce-fulfillment

E-Commerce Fulfillment

High-volume order fulfillment centers processing hundreds or thousands of daily shipments. InstaPrint eliminates the manual step of printing and inserting packing slips — operators focus on picking and packing instead.

Common integration: InstaPrint feeds directly into shipping carton sealing systems or manual packing stations.

Pineberry Manufacturing's ecommerce Packaging Automation

Warehouse and 3PL Distribution

Third-party logistics providers handling multi-client fulfillment. InstaPrint supports variable data printing — customer logos, return labels, promotional inserts, and compliance documentation all printed on demand.

Benefit: No pre-printed form inventory to manage. One system serves multiple clients with zero changeover time.

Why InstaPrint vs Manual or Partial Automation

The Manual Bottleneck
Partial Automation (Separate Printer + Manual Insertion)
Full Automation with InstaPrint

What it looks like:

  • Operator prints packing slip at a workstation
  • Walks to packing table, folds slip by hand
  • Places slip in box manually before sealing

Cost:

  • 15-30 seconds per order (at scale, this is huge)
  • High error rate — wrong slip in wrong box
  • Operator fatigue and turnover
  • Throughput ceiling — manual speed caps your growth

When it makes sense:

Very low volume (under 50 orders/day) or variable order types that don’t justify automation investment.

What it looks like:

  • Thermal or inkjet printer produces packing slips at a central station
  • Slips are batch-printed and sorted
  • Operators manually insert slips into boxes at packing stations

Cost:

  • Still requires manual handling and sorting
  • Pre-printing creates inventory waste (obsolete stock, reprints)
  • Batch printing doesn’t scale with real-time order flow
  • Sorting errors still happen

When it makes sense:

Medium volume (50-200 orders/day) where full automation hasn’t been evaluated yet.

What it looks like:

  • Blank slips are fed automatically
  • Order data is sent directly from WMS/ERP to the printer
  • Slips are printed, folded, and inserted without operator intervention
  • Barcode verification ensures accuracy

ROI:

  • Labor savings: Eliminate 1-2 FTEs per shift depending on volume
  • Speed: 200 slips/minute = 12,000 slips/hour throughput capacity
  • Accuracy: Barcode verification reduces mispicks and returns
  • Scalability: System handles peak season volume surges without adding headcount
  • Flexibility: Switch between customers/SKUs/formats instantly (3PL applications)
  • Typical payback period: 12-18 months for operations processing 500+ orders/day.

Real-world example:

One of our e-commerce customers moved from manual packing slip handling to the InstaPrint system.

Before: operators printed and folded slips at individual packing stations — throughput was capped at 120 orders/hour.
After: InstaPrint automation increased throughput to 200+ orders/hour with zero additional labor. The customer scaled up production capacity by 65% and reduced per-order fulfillment cost by 40%.

Why Buy the InstaPrint from Pineberry?

All-in-one turnkey solution

Most companies sell feeding, printing, and insertion components separately — you have to integrate them yourself. Pineberry engineered the InstaPrint as a complete system. One supplier, one warranty, one support contact.

Proven friction feeder technology

The SF-12 friction feeder at the core of the InstaPrint has been feeding flat materials in production environments for over 40 years. It’s not experimental — it’s field-proven.

Built in North America

Designed and manufactured in North America. When you need service, parts, or modifications, you’re calling the factory — not a distributor.

Flexible and scalable

Start with a standalone InstaPrint for one packing line. Add more units as you grow. Integrate with WMS, conveyors, and downstream equipment when you’re ready.

No pre-printing waste

Print exactly what you need, when you need it. Change customer logos, messaging, or compliance text instantly — no obsolete form inventory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the InstaPrint fully automate my e-commerce fulfillment process?

The InstaPrint automates the packing slip printing and insertion step. It eliminates manual handling of slips, but you still need upstream systems (order picking, packing stations) and downstream systems (carton sealing, labeling, sortation). However, automating the slip insertion step is often the bottleneck — removing it unlocks higher throughput across the entire line.

Can it handle various sizes of packing slips and documents?

Yes. The SF-12 friction feeder and folding system are adjustable for different slip widths and lengths. Standard configuration handles slips up to 12″ wide. Custom configurations available for wider formats (up to 28″). Fold settings are adjustable for small boxes or large cartons.

What if I need to print more than just packing slips — can it print return labels, promotional inserts, or compliance documents?

Yes. The DOD inkjet printer supports any printable content. You can print:

  • Packing slips with variable order data
  • Return labels with barcodes
  • Promotional inserts or coupons
  • Compliance documentation (MSDS sheets, allergen warnings, etc.)

The system switches between formats instantly — no changeover time. Ideal for 3PL operations serving multiple clients.

How does the InstaPrint integrate with my WMS or ERP system?

The InstaPrint accepts order data via Ethernet, serial, or USB connection. Most integrations use a simple CSV or XML data feed from your WMS/ERP. Pineberry provides integration support and can work with your IT team or software vendor to configure the data handshake.

For complex integrations (custom middleware, print server requirements, or specialized data formats), Pineberry can recommend integration partners or provide custom engineering.

What's the typical lead time and installation process?

Standard InstaPrint systems are typically delivered in 8-12 weeks. Custom configurations may require additional time. Installation and commissioning usually take 2-3 days on-site.

Do you offer leasing or financing options?

Yes. Pineberry works with equipment leasing partners to offer flexible financing terms. Preserve cash flow while upgrading your fulfillment line.
